187 New Jobs Coming to Tuskegee

MONTGOMERY – Gov. Kay Ivey has awarded a $400,000 grant to the city of Tuskegee to support the development of a new automotive supplier plant that is slated to hire 187 workers.

The Community Development Block Grant will fund the infrastructure needed for the $163 million manufacturing facility being built in Tuskegee by CPT America, a tier one automotive supplier. The facility will be built in Tuskegee Commerce Park near the Samkee auto parts production plant that opened in 2024.

“This is another big step forward for Tuskegee and Macon County in establishing a strong presence in the automotive industry,” Gov. Kay Ivey said. “This development will offer good-paying jobs for people of all skill levels in the industry. I am pleased to support this project and excited for the positive impact CPT America will have on the area.”

CPT America is a new company that will produce stamped metal components and assemblies for auto manufacturers. The city will use the grant funds to extend water and sewer infrastructure for use at the plant. The initial development will be a 350,000-square-foot facility. A potential second phase of the development would add an additional 700,000 square feet.

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

“A development like this brings multiple benefits for a community, including higher wage jobs, an expanded tax base and more demand for retail and other businesses in the area,” ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said. “ADECA is pleased to partner with Gov. Ivey and the city of Tuskegee in support of this project.”

Gov. Ivey notified Tuskegee Mayor Chris Lee that the grant had been approved. The city will contribute $263,466 to the project.

ADECA manages a range of programs that support law enforcement, economic development, recreation, energy conservation and water resource management.
