PRESS RELEASE
Dexter Hosts Annual Men’s Day Celebration
Montgomery, Ala. — Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church welcomes all to its Annual Men’s Day Celebration during weekly worship on Sunday, April 28. Services begin at 10:30 a.m. at 454 Dexter Avenue.
With the theme “Men Working Together for the Glory of God” and using Psalm 133:1 and Psalm 37:23 as scripture, the Rev. Thomas J. Simmons, Chaplain Instructor at Maxwell Air Force Base’s USAF Chaplain Corps College, will serve as the guest speaker.
“The men of Dexter are true leaders, sharing God’s message of redemption and lifting others up as we work together,” said the Rev. Dr. Allen J. Sims Sr., Dexter’s pastor.
In 1955, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. recommended the creation of two committees — Dexter’s Women’s Council and its men’s Brotherhood — to help ensure engagement of the church’s membership. This Men’s Day program is a continuation of those aims.
For additional information, please contact Daniel E. Davis, Men’s Day Committee Chair, at 770-374-5483.
